We are in technological times where, through a laser scanner and software applications, digital files are created, consisting of thousands of points located in space, called point clouds. These point clouds represent reality in virtual three-dimensional spaces.
These spaces must be processed with design software to be represented in traditional 2D plans or 3D models. For this reason, our client took advantage of our drafting work subcontracting service to convert the point cloud of a space they had into floor plans and elevations to represent their model.
Our drafter, an expert in point clouds, had the task of transforming that point cloud using the RECAP software into 3D models of flat faces and edges that would then be exported to AutoCAD for presentation in 2D planimetry. For this reason, he used two different applications to complete the required drafting work.
In the captures provided, you can see the handling of the point cloud of the architectural areas in RECAP, and its subsequent adaptation to the AutoCAD software where information on sections and elevations was extracted from the corresponding surfaces. One more job that frees our clients from long, technical, and repetitive processes while they can use their work and efforts on more productive tasks for their company.
